Help Future Generations by Conserving our Natural Resources
Today!
70% of the furniture ROF sells is re-manufactured, saving literally tons of raw materials
& harmful emissions energy. Education is another way we
can help. Below are some facts that can help all of us conserve
resources such as steel, oil, natural gas, coal, aluminum,
etc.

Hierarchy Of Resource Conservation
Reduce: Reducing is at the top of the list.
We have reduced the size of our workstations in this office.
By not using as much steel for example, we are reducing the
amount of iron ore taken from the earth and all the environmental
impacts associated with its extraction. Plus, all the energy
and impacts associated and transportation of the steel are
reduced as well.
Reuse: Reusing is almost as good as reducing.
The only real difference is the small amount of energy and
the materials used in cleaning the furniture and transportation
to our office. There is very little environmental impact associated
with making reused furniture a comparable alternative to new.
Re-manufacture: Remanufacturing office furniture
saves tons of raw materials, especially our remanufactured
office panels. We use recycled soda bottles for the panel
fabric (Terratex brand panel fabric), and the only raw material
needed is mica used for the powder coating process, which
is an exceptionally effective, efficient, and environmentally-friendly
method of painting. Now we have a panel that is 98% reused
(by weight) and looks brand new.
Recycle: While we all think recycling is the
best thing we can do, environmentally it is actually at the
end of the hierarchy. Recycling, while it will conserve natural
resources, still takes energy and more raw materials to go
through the manufacturing process. Still, recycling is a good
thing and keeps tons of waste products out of our dumps, and
it saves raw materials.
